Coronavirus concerns forces TGCA to go virtual and cancel summer clinic in Arlington

The coronavirus pandemic has forced another high school sports cancellation.

The Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) announced Friday that next week’s 2020 TGCA Summer Clinic in Arlington has been canceled. The clinic was scheduled to run Monday through Thursday at the Arlington Convention Center.

Instead, the organization will hold a virtual clinic starting July 15 with it being available for coaches until Sept. 1.

The organization cited new orders issued by Gov. Greg Abbott and the UIL shutting down all activities until July 13.

“The TGCA feels it is best, at this time, to allow our member coaches to access concussion training, UIL CCP Certification, professional development, and specific sports skill training in a virtual setting,” the organization said.

More information on the virtual clinic will be available on the TGCA website in the coming days.
