Rangers’ Elvis Andrus donates baseball, softball equipment to Thomas Jefferson High

Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas suffered significant damage after multiple tornadoes hit North Texas in October.

On Monday, Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus went to the school and donated baseball and softball equipment, which included helmets, bats, gloves, catchers gear, baseballs, softballs and equipment bags.

UIL softball season starts Jan. 24 while baseball picks up a week later.

Jefferson students have been attending classes at Thomas Edison Middle Learning Center, which closed last year.

Along with Dallas Pinkston and Dallas Sunset, home games will be played at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy in Dallas. According to Sports Illustrated, Jefferson baseball and softball teams have been using the facilities during the off-season.

SI also said that the Rangers have supplied gift cards to affected families in Dallas ISD, along with thousands of dollars of school supplies for Jefferson students.
