PLAYOFF PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Karlie Charles, The Colony

What she did: The 2019 Iowa State bound pitcher won a doubleheader on Friday to sweep Boswell in the 5A Region I quarterfinals in Argyle, 4-2 in Game 1 and 11-0 in five innings in Game 2.

After allowing two runs in the first inning of Game 1, Charles shut down the Pioneers during the next 11 innings.

Charles struck out 13 in Game 1 and retired 12 consecutive batters, and threw a two-hit shutout in Game 2. She finished with a 1.17 ERA and 15 strikeouts, and hit 600 career Ks.

HITTER OF THE WEEK

Micaela Wark, Reedy

What she did: The 2021 Houston commit was dynamic from the plate as the Lions swept Denison in a 5A Region II quarterfinal series to clinch a spot in the regional semifinals for the first time in program history.

Wark went 4 of 6 with a home run in each game. She added a double with 5 RBIs and a stolen base, and got both wins from the mound with 11 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings.

The Lions combined to win two games 25-9. They face Hallsville this week.
