Son of former Ranger, projected Top-5 pick hits homer at Globe Life Park in playoff game
Colleyville Heritage senior shortstop Bobby Witt has already homered at Globe Life Park when he did it during an all-star game last summer.
But Thursday night’s one had a bit more meaning.
Witt came up second in the Panthers’ lineup and belted an 0-2 pitch over the left-field wall to give Heritage a 1-0 lead in the first inning during a one-game area-round playoff against Burleson.
Witt is 1 of 40 nominees up for the Golden Spikes award, which goes to the top amateur player in the country. Witt, who’s projected to be a top 5 pick in this year’s MLB draft, can become the first high school player to win.
