How long does it take for your average pitcher to record 48 strikeouts? Maybe 6, 7 games which through district is 3-4 weeks. Well, not for McKinney Boyd sophomore pitcher Kinsey Kackley. It took her one week to hit 48 Ks.
Kackley was picked as Dallas-Fort Worth softball player of the week for games from March 18-23, 2019 after registering 17 Ks vs. Allen and a school-record 31 Ks vs. Plano.
Against Plano on Friday, Kackley went the distance 14 innings and threw a 1-hit shutout on 178 pitches, 129 for strikes. Diana Murtha scored on the walk-off single from Katy Loera to send the Broncos to a 1-0 victory.
On March 19 vs. Allen, Kackley threw a 4-hit shutout on 112 pitches during a 4-0 win. Kackley has 141 strikeouts, an average of 20, over her past 7 outings.
