That’s a 15-yard penalty for excessive celebration.

OK, maybe not since it was after Aledo had won a state championship.

But in one of the more unique post-game celebrations you’ll ever see, a video has resurfaced that shows former Aledo safeties coach Greg Wright getting branded after the Bearcats beat Calallen in the 2016 Class 5A Division II state final.

“I think that was his idea,” chuckled Aledo head coach Steve Wood.

It was the third time Wright was branded with the “Aledo A” with each time coming after a state title.

“I’ve known Greg since he was in college. He’s one of my best friends,” Wood said. “It’s a special deal to win a state championship and Greg is a unique guy. He’s done it three times, but I only got to see one of them.”

As for the brand, it’s nowhere to be found.

“The story came up in the coaches office the other day,” Wood laughed. “It might be in one of the coaches garage, but I don’t know. I don’t want to be apart of that.”

So will another Aledo coach get branded if the Bearcats win a state title this season? Wood didn’t rule it out.

Aledo (14-0) will face Wichita Falls Rider (9-5) in a 5A Division II semifinal on Friday at 8 p.m. at AT&T Stadium.
