Brock and Wall meeting for fifth-straight playoff showdown

Special to the Star-Telegram

Wall, which is just outside of San Angelo, sits 200 miles southwest of Brock. Yet the two are striking up quite the rivalry.

In the battle of the birds, the Hawks and Eagles are meeting in the playoffs for the fifth-straight season at 7 p.m. on Friday at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene during the Class 3A Division I regional round.

No. 3 Brock (11-1) officially began its football dominance in 2014, its first UIL varsity season. Since then the Eagles have gone 65-7 with two trips to a state final and one championship in 2015.

Along the way, the Hawks (9-2) have been in their path each year with Brock winning three of them. Friday’s game will mark a fourth time they’ve met in the third round.

The only win under Wall’s belt was a big one when the Hawks handed the defending champ its only loss, 28-17, in the 2016 state quarterfinals, a year after Brock won its title.

Can Wall knock off Brock again or will the Eagles get one step closer to another state final?
