A bad week isn’t getting much better for TCU.

One of the Class of 2019 recruits, Aledo 3-star DE Colt Ellison sustained a major knee injury Friday.

Ellison tore his ACL and MCL.

Ellison had 43 tackles and led the team with 10 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks this season as Aledo is 8-0 and ranked No. 1 in the Class 5A state rankings. Ellison is ranked as the No. 32 weak-side defensive end in the nation and No. 48 overall prospect in the state, and committed to TCU in July.

He had 186 tackles, 34 for loss, 23.5 sacks and six fumble recoveries as a junior and sophomore. Aledo won a state title in 2016 and finished runner-up in 2017.

TCU started its week by dismissing standout returner KaVontae Turpin on the heels of multiple domestic violence charges from last weekend in Fort Worth and last March in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

TCU then lost to Kansas, 27-26, on Saturday for the first time since joining the Big 12.

TCU coach Gary Patterson has kicked off returner KaVontae Turpin from the team. Turpin has been arrested multiple times for alleged domestic violence this year.
