Trio of DFW softball stars named MaxPreps All-Americans
Mansfield's Paxton Scheurer, The Colony's Jayda Coleman and Denton Ryan's Abby Buettner were named MaxPreps All-Americans on Tuesday. Scheurer and Coleman made first team while Buettner was second team.
Scheurer, a 2018 pitcher who will play at UNLV, went 21-1 this season. She was voted District 4-6A MVP after recording a 0.78 ERA and 267 strikeouts. She batted .443 with seven home runs, 14 doubles, four triples and 59 RBI.
She was named to the 6A all-state team by the Texas Girls Coaches Association and was a first-team all star by DFWfastpitch. She also attended the Star-Telegram's Tomlinson Honors for being a player of the year candidate.
Coleman, a 2020 shortstop committed to Oklahoma, batted .714 with 75 hits, 66 runs and 43 stolen bases. The 2017 MaxPreps Freshman of the Year was 14-5A MVP, an all-state selection and DFWfastpitch player of the year.
She helped The Colony to a state title in 2017, was named USA Today All-American for the second-straight season.
Buettner, a 2020 corner infielder committed to Maryland, was voted 5-5A MVP, 5A all state and first team all star by DFWfastpitch after batting .615 with 17 home runs, 78 RBI, 57 runs and 45 stolen bases. She had a 1.333 slugging percentage.
She has driven in 157 runs in two seasons with the Raiders.
East Carter's Montana Fouts (Grayson, Ky.) was named MaxPreps National Softball Player of the Year.
