Viral video star is headed to Southeast Texas to continue softball career
Marisa Arriaga went viral in 2015 after posting a video of a softball trick in her backyard.
Now she's headed to Stephen F. Austin to continue her career. The former Cedar Hill standout committed to SFA on Tuesday.
In the video she performs a bat trick and smacked the ball after kicking it in the air off a tee. It quickly went viral. As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, her video on Twitter has 9,000 retweets, 12,000 likes and 229 comments.
Arriaga graduated from Cedar Hill in 2017 and signed her letter of intent with Texas Woman's where she started 25 games in 2018. She played in 38 overall and scored 10 times on 22 hits with seven RBIs. She hit one home run and one double.
TWU finished with a 25-20 record.
Arriaga, who played select ball with Glory Adkins, was voted Utility MVP and all-state as a senior. She was also Utility MVP her freshman year and added first-team all-district honors as a sophomore and junior.
