Brock's Tyler throws one-hitter vs. Clyde, Carroll baseball rallies to win Game 1

SOFTBALL

Brock 5, Clyde 0

Mattye Tyler was nothing short of brilliant as the Lady Eagles won Game 1 of the 3A Region I final at home.

Game 2 is 6 p.m. Saturday at Abilene Christian.

Tyler threw a one-hitter and struck out eight batters.

Leading 1-0 in the fourth, Payton Gasca’s RBI single gave Brock a 2-0 lead. Landry Felts hit a two-run home run in the fifth and Anarenee Beyer, fresh off a team bronze at the UIL golf state tournament on Tuesday, drove in a run in the sixth.

Forney 4, Hallsville 1

Texas A&M commit Trinity Cannon launched a two-run home run in the top of the seventh as the Lady Jack Rabbits bested the Ladycats in Game 1 of the 5A Region II final.

Cannon broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the fifth.

Kansas commit Savannah DesRochers threw a complete game and allowed one run on six hits while striking out four.

Game 2 is 7 p.m. Friday at Van High School.

Grandview 1, Buna 0

The Lady Zebras improved to 39-0 on Brooke Blackwell’s dominate Game 1 performance in the 3A Region III final.

Blackwell, signed to Texas Tech, threw a two-hitter and struck out six.

Raleigh Mullins drove in Kami Flores with an RBI to shortstop in the second.

Game 2 is 5 p.m. Saturday at Whitehouse.

BASEBALL

Southlake Carroll 5, Timber Creek 3

The Dragons bats finally woke up in the top of the sixth when they scored three times, and added two in the seventh to take Game 1 of their 6A Region I semifinal series at Dallas Jesuit.

Game 2 is 4 p.m. Friday at Jesuit.

With two outs in the sixth, no one on and trailing 3-0, Cole Johnson and Nik Millsap hit back-to-back singles. Johnson scored on Will Quillen’s RBI single to center and Millsap scored on Jorge Figueroa’s single to short.

Nate Santiago reached on an error which allowed Quillen to tie the game.

Carroll took a 4-3 lead on a wild pitch and Millsap added an insurance run with an RBI single to center that scored Cade Bell.

The Falcons scored all three runs in the fourth with two RBI singles by Nic Thompson and Jose Luna.

Amarillo 2, Colleyville Heritage 1

Prosper 5, Cleburne 3

Marcus 2, Keller 0
