Mansfield and Colleyville Heritage standouts win basketball players of the week
Nearly 90,000 votes were cast for dfwVarsity girls and boys basketball player of the week for games Jan. 8-13.
Mansfield senior Bailey Downing won the girls vote (8,974). She scored a game-high 26 points vs. Arlington Sam Houston.
Downing edged out Glen Rose senior Ally Andress, who received 8,260 votes. She also scored 26 points in a game vs. Midlothian Heritage.
Lake Country Christian junior Morgan Campbell came in third place (4,360) after she recorded 31 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals vs. Temple Christian as the Eagles won their 100th straight district game.
More than 62,000 votes were cast for the boys poll with Colleyville Heritage junior Niko Bossinakis (26,034) winning the award. Bossinakis, who recently hit 1,000 career points, scored 25 points in a win vs. rival Grapevine.

Benbrook sophomore Keevon Kennedy came in second (22,255) after averaging 23.5 points against Mineral Wells and Castleberry.
