Texas looking like a solid lock to host NCAA Final Four again soon

Three Texas cities, including Dallas, have been named finalists to host the NCAA Women’s Final Four from 2021 through 2024.

Dallas, Houston and San Antonio are among the eight finalists to host during the four-year period beginning in 2021. So the odds a good the Final Four will soon return to Texas.

This year’s Men’s Final Four will be at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Dallas would host the women’s Final Four at American Airlines Center, which was the site of last year’s women’s championship. The last time San Antonio hosted the Women’s Final Four was in 2010. It also hosted in 2002. Houston has never hosted the women. The AAC is also hosting first and second round games in the men’s tournament in March. Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena, under construction near the Will Rodgers Arena in Fort Worth, is scheduled to host first and second round games in 2022.

Other cities vying to host the Women’s Final Four include Cleveland, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Miss., Minneapolis and Nashville.

Texas has hosted multiple Men’s Final Fours recently, including Houston in 2011 and ’16, Arlington in 2014. The Alamodome is hosting its fourth Men’s Final Four since 1998.
