First NCAA Tournament at Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena features No. 1 seeds Baylor, Kansas
The NCAA Tournament is coming to Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena for the first time and it will include a lot of familiar talent.
Two No. 1 seeds from the Big 12 — Baylor and Kansas — will represent the East and Midwest Regions in Fort Worth.
The Big 12 co-champions of the regular season lead a pack of eight teams that includes four games on Thursday and two games on Saturday.
Baylor is the No. 1 seed in the East Region (and No. 4 overall seed) and opens against No. 16 seed Norfolk State on Thursday.
If the the Bears (26-6) get past Norfolk State, they advance to play the winner between No. 8 seed North Carolina and No. 9 seed Marquette on Saturday.
Kansas (28-6), which also won the Big 12 Tournament championship, is the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region. The Jayhawks open Thursday against Texas Southern (19-12) in a First Four game in Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday.
If the Jayhawks advance they’ll play the winner between No. 8 San Diego State and No. 9 Creighton on Saturday.
Kansas went 0-4 in the state of Texas this season with losses at Texas Tech, Texas, Baylor, and TCU.
