Collectively, TCU is expected to have a solid men’s basketball season after snapping a 20-year NCAA Tournament drought last season.

Individually, though, the Frogs aren’t getting much love.

TCU had just one player named when the Big 12 released the conference’s preseason honors on Wednesday. Senior point guard Alex Robinson made the “honorable mention” list.

Robinson is coming off a season in which he averaged 8.9 points and a team-best 6.1 assists per game.

Kansas State’s Dean Wade was named the preseason Big 12 player of the year, and Kansas’ Dedric Lawson was named newcomer of the year. Freshman of the year honors went to Kansas’ Quentin Grimes.

Along with Wade and Lawson, other first-team selections included Lindell Wigginton (Iowa State), Barry Brown Jr. (K-State) and Sagaba Konate (West Virginia). The honorable mention list included Robinson, Grimes, Cameron Lard (Iowa State), Udoka Azubuike (Kansas), Kerwin Roach II (Texas), Jericho Sims (Texas) and Jarrett Culver (Texas Tech).

The honors were selected by the league’s coaches.
