TCU women look to refocus on process against Texas Tech
Through the first four games of Big 12 play, the TCU women’s basketball team has seen a variety of outcomes.
Against Kansas State on Jan. 2, the Horned Frogs cruised to a 87-73 win. Ranked Oklahoma used an 18-1 run in the fourth quarter Jan. 6 to knock off TCU. Three days later, Baylor dominated in a 72-55 victory.
However, the Horned Frogs (10-5, 2-2 in Big 12) can draw confidence from their conference opener, a 78-69 victory Dec. 30 at Texas Tech. TCU erased a 15-point deficit in the victory. TCU hosts Tech at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schollmaier Arena.
TCU was trailing Tech 40-32 at halftime when coach Raegan Pebley reminded her players about the importance of winning possessions. The team played the second half poised and with confidence, Pebley said.
They are a nightmare to guard. They really are and that explosive ability because of how well they shoot the 3.

After Saturday’s loss in Waco, Pebley said it’s important that the team sticks to the process.
“There is routine in how we do things,” Pebley said. “We look at film. We work to get better as a team. We have individual players and positions look at film and how they can grow and get better.”
Texas Tech (9-6, 0-4 in Big 12) owns the conference’s third-best 3-point field-goal percentage defense, with opponents shooting 29.5 percent from behind the arc.
They’re matched against the league’s best 3-point shooting team in TCU, which connects on 42.7 percent of its attempts, which impressed Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale.
“They are a nightmare to guard,” she said. “They really are and that explosive ability because of how well they shoot the 3.”
