TCU football lands one of the nation’s best cornerbacks from Oklahoma
TCU football landed one of the top cornerbacks in the country Wednesday afternoon.
Four-star defensive back Daniel Yebit announced his commitment to the Horned Frogs on Instagram and becomes the highest-ranked commit in TCU’s class.
Listed at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds Yebit is currently ranked the No. 133 overall prospect and the No. 16 cornerback according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Yebit plays at Yukon High School in Oklahoma.
Yebit held offers from Arizona State, Arkansas and Minnesota among others.
“Two-way standout with verified athleticism who projects as a modern longer-framed cornerback,” 247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks said in his scouting report. “Productive player at receiver and in the secondary. Outstanding explosion markers in the high and long jumps. That quick-twitch juice shows in pads. Consistently displays body control and ball skills on both sides.
“Awareness and impact playmaking acumen could provide for some role flexibility in the defensive backfield. Projects to the (Power Four) level as a potential multi-year starter with long-term NFL Draft data points.”
Last season for Yukon Yebit caught 43 passes for 760 yards and six touchdowns. He also produced 37 tackles, four interceptions and a forced fumble on defense.
As a sophomore he logged 41 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a pick-six and also caught a touchdown pass.
Yebit is TCU’s 14th commitment and shoots the class up to No. 50 in the country. Yebit is the only four-star committed to TCU, per 247Sports.
