“Bryan is a Horned Frog through and through,” TCU coach Kirk Saarloos said in a statement. “His experience, leadership, and passion for TCU Baseball make him a tremendous addition to our staff, and we’re thrilled to have him back in our dugout!”
A 2022 TCU Block T Hall of Fame inductee, Holaday came to TCU in the fall of 2007 after one season at North Central Texas College. He was a three-time all-conference performer and earned second-team All-American honors as a senior.
Holaday was a member of TCU’s first Super Regional team in 2009 and led TCU to its first College World Series in 2010, earning the Johnny Bench Award as the nation’s best collegiate catcher. He played in 187 games over three years with a .325 career batting average, 46 doubles, four triples, 28 home runs and 142 RBIs.
“Coming back to TCU in an official capacity means everything to me,” Holaday said in a statement. “Anyone who knows me knows I bleed purple — this program shaped who I am, and I’m going to give everything I have to make it even better. This is my dream job, plain and simple. I’ve been around this program and poured into it where I could, but making this official is something I’ll never take for granted. TCU catchers are going to be held to the highest standard — and I can’t wait to get to work.”
A sixth-round draft pick in 2010 by the Detroit Tigers, Holaday had a successful 10-year MLB career with the Tigers, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Miami Marlins, Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Holaday is the final piece to a revamped coaching staff that includes new hitting coach Danny-David Linahan and pitching coach Thomas Eshelman.
