Miles came in shooting 11.1% on 3-pointers, hitting only 2 of 18 attempts. That had been the sole blemish on a superb rookie campaign, with the No. 2 overall pick averaging 15.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.7 steals through nine games.
Miles made 8 of 11 3-point tries Thursday to score a career-high 28 points with four rebounds, seven assists and three blocks. She raised her 3-point percentage to 34.4% (10-for-29).
The previous rookie single-game 3-point record was seven by Clark and Crystal Robinson.
“I’ve always been able to shoot,” Miles told reporters. “I think it’s just a matter of me being comfortable, me taking the right shots, getting in the right rhythm for me obviously within our system, so I just felt comfortable tonight. Obviously, they were going under the ball screens, which, you know, they respect my drive. So I just had to be confident and knock them down.”
