TCU has cruised to a 6-0 start, including picking up a road win over then-No. 10 N.C. State. The Horned Frogs will have a chance to add another quality non-conference win when they face Richmond at 8 p.m. Thursday. TCU will also face UAB at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Both games will be streamed on FloCollege.
Richmond was the preseason pick to win the Atlantic 10 and has gotten off to a 5-1 start, with its lone loss being to No. 7 Texas.
The Spiders are led being reigning A-10 Player of the Year Maggie Doogan, a 6-foot-2 senior forward that is averaging 23.2 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game, while shooting 39% from 3.
The matchup between Doogan and TCU forward Marta Suarez should be one of the best individual battles in the challenge. Suarez has quickly risen from an underrated transfer portal signee to a potential first round pick in the upcoming WNBA draft, along with teammate Olivia Miles.
The Spiders have another returning all-conference player with senior guard Rachel Ullstrom back for another year and she’s averaging 13.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
Junior point guard Ally Sweeney leads the team with 4.5 assists while also averaging 10.3 points.
The Spiders should provide a good challenge for TCU, but Richmond lost by 29 points to the Longhorns. Every matchup is different, but if the Horned Frogs play their A-game it would be a surprise to not see them come out on top.
The Horned Frogs will then face UAB (2-3) on Friday. The Blazers have gotten off to a slow start with losses to West Alabama, South Alabama and Murray State to start the season.
This is another game the Horned Frogs should be able to win comfortably.
