Betting odds reflect TCU football’s tough road to win Big 12 title

TCU football remains alive in the Big 12 title race, but the betting odds reflect just how steep of a hill the Horned Frogs have to climb.

TCU is 22-1 at DraftKings sportsbook, which translates to a 4.3% chance to prevail in the Big 12 championship game Dec. 6 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The Horned Frogs have even worse odds at other sportsbooks — 25-1 at FanDuel (3.8% chance) and 30-1 at Circa Sports and the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas (3.2%).

Texas Tech is the odds-on -170 favorite at DraftKings, followed by BYU (+320), Cincinnati (+850), Utah (11-1), TCU (22-1), Arizona State (30-1) and Houston (110-1).

BYU is the only undefeated team in the conference (5-0). Texas Tech and Cincinnati are 5-1; Arizona State, Houston and Utah are 4-2; and TCU is 3-2. Every other team in the league has at least three conference losses.

The Horned Frogs likely have to win their final four games to make it to the Big 12 title game. After hosting Iowa State on Saturday, TCU finishes against three of the teams ahead of it in the standings — at BYU on Nov. 15, at Houston on Nov. 22 and hosting Cincinnati on Nov. 29.

The Horned Frogs will likely be sizable underdogs at BYU, and Houston and Cincinnati should be toss-up games.

TCU strongly favored over Iowa State

The Horned Frogs are solid 7-point favorites against Iowa State at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium. The game will be televised on Fox.

The total, or over/under — the combined points scored both teams — is set at 57.5.

On Kalshi, the prediction market that has become a legal way for Texans to bet on sports, TCU has a 70% chance of winning the game.
