TCU-Baylor game suspended three times due to weather

The TCU-Baylor football game was suspended in the fourth quarter three times because of lightning delays Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

The game was first stopped with TCU leading 35-21 with 13:46 left in the fourth quarter.

The delay happened at about 1:48 p.m. with an additional lightning strike at 1:56 p.m. The game eventually restarted at 2:43 p.m.

A second lightning delay suspended the game again at about 3 p.m., this time with 6:42 left in the fourth quarter and TCU still leading 35-21 and threatening to score again.

The game was about to resume at 3:29 p.m., but another lightning strike caused the game’s third delay to begin before play even resumed, with the next earliest start at 3:59 p.m.

Also, an official announced that two seconds needed to be added back to the clock, so there will be 6:44 remaining when play resumes.

The delay was extended with another strike announced at about 3:45 p.m., and play finally resumed at 4:17 p.m.

The delays totaled 2 hours and 16 minutes.

It was also announced that TV coverage was moving onto the ESPN app and off ESPN2.

On the first play after the restart, Kevorian Barnes ran for a 14-yard touchdown to extend TCU’s lead to 42-21.
