TCU men’s basketball lands Florida International transfer Vianney Salatchoum

TCU men’s basketball has landed a commitment from Florida International transfer Vianney Salatchoum, he announced on Instagram Wednesday.

Salatchoum averaged 10.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game last season for the Panthers. Salatchoum started 28 of 30 games for FIU and scored 20 or more points in three games last season.

Salatchoum, listed at 6-foot-11, was also voted to the Conference USA All-Defense team. Originally from Yaounde, Cameroon, Salatchoum started his career at Panola Community College in Carthage, Texas.

Salatchoum is the fifth transfer TCU has landed from the portal joining Iowa guard Brock Harding, Providence guard Jayden Pierre, Utah Valley guard Tanner Toolson and Oregon State forward Liutauras Lelevicius.

Salatchoum rounds out the roster as a replacemetn for Ernest Udeh and gives TCU even more depth in the front court as the Horned Frogs return David Punch and Malick Diallo along with junior college signee Xavier Edmonds.

Diallo and Salatchoum should compete for the starting center position while Punch should play power forward. Lelevicius can play power forward in a pinch, but this move should also allow him to stay more on the wing.
