Four-star Frisco Panther Creek safety Donovan Webb recaps visit to TCU

It was a busy weekend for the TCU football program as the Horned Frogs hosted a number of their top recruiting targets on official visits.

One of those prospects was Donovan Webb, a standout safety from Frisco Panther Creek. Ranked a four-star in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Webb says TCU blew him away over the weekend.

“My visit was amazing,” Webb said. “The staff did a great job hosting me and my family. From the time we got there to the time we left, we were able to learn more about the school and the football program. We had great conversations with great people.”

Webb said one of the highlights of his trip was time spent a bowling alley with the coaching staff and other recruits that were also in Fort Worth.

Ranked the No. 337 prospect in the country and the No. 27 safety nationally, Webb would be a significant pick up for the Horned Frogs and new safeties coach Tre Watson is leading the charge in Webb’s recruitment.

“I’m the most close with Coach Watson, the new Safeties coach,” Webb said. “Since he’s been there, me and my family have been impressed with his efforts in recruiting me. He’s the real deal on the phone and in person.”

Watson has a solid background in developing defensive backs to the pros from his time at California. At TCU, Watson could have two more draft picks in Bud Clark and Jamel Johnson in the next few seasons.

The ability to be developed for the next level is one of the primary factors Webb is considering in his recruitment.

“I’m looking for a program who considers me a priority as far as recruiting goes,” Webb said. “I’m also looking for a program who has history of putting their players in the league and who will develop me into a NFL ready player.”

TCU checks both of those boxes as Webb has become a priority for the Class of 2026. Not only does he have good size at 6-feet, 182 pounds, Webb has been ultra productive at Panther Creek.

Last season Webb accounted for 120 tackles, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and nine pass breakups on defense, while rushing 19 times for 172 yards (9.1 yards per carry) and one touchdown.

Webb even showed explosiveness in special teams as he added two punt return touchdowns and 330 punt return yards. Webb was named Texas 7-4A D-1 Co-Defensive MVP after leading Panther Creek to a 10-2 record.

As a sophomore Webb registered 114 tackles, four interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and two defensive touchdowns. Webb was also voted all-district as a freshman.

That type of production has attracted interest from all over the country. Webb has taken official visits to Texas Tech and SMU and has more trips planned to Ohio State, Michigan and Kansas State later this month.

“These are the programs that consider me a priority and I want to get a feel for them in person before making a decision,” Webb said.

It would be a massive recruiting win for TCU to secure his services over bluebloods like Michigan and Ohio State plus in-state rivals SMU and Texas Tech.

Webb says he’s getting close to a commitment and hopes to have a decision made by the end of the summer if not sooner. As for where the Horned Frogs stack up with the other contenders, Webb said TCU really helped its case this weekend.

“As a kid, TCU was my dream school,” Webb said. “The fact that they’re now recruiting me makes me feel tremendously blessed. I’ll say they rank pretty high. I’ve got a lot of love for TCU.”

The Horned Frogs’ 2026 class currently ranks No. 36 in the country led by four-star Arlington Martin defensive end Jesse Ford.
