TCU men’s basketball lands another transfer guard

TCU men’s basketball added another transfer portal addition late Sunday night with a commitment from Utah Valley guard Tanner Toolson.

Toolson selected the Horned Frogs over Iowa and becomes Jamie Dixon’s fourth transfer portal addition this cycle. The 6-foot-5 redshirt sophomore averaged 13.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 45.3 percent from the floor and 34.9 percent from 3-point range and was voted All-WAC last season as he led Utah Valley to an outright WAC regular season championship.

Toolson started his career at BYU before transferring to Utah Valley before the 2023 season. Toolson started 65 games this last two seasons for Utah Valley and will bring plenty of experience to TCU’s backcourt, which lost Frankie Collins and Vasean Allette to the transfer portal.

Toolson joins a class that includes Iowa transfer guard Brock Harding, Providence guard Jayden Pierre and Oregon State forward Liutauras Lelevicius, who committed to the Horned Frogs earlier this week.
