TCU soccer gearing up for second round matchup with Penn State
After defeating Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 15, TCU women’s soccer is gearing up for a heavyweight battle in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The No. 5 seed Horned Frogs (17-3-2, 9-0-2) will face No. 4 seed Penn State (11-5-3, 5-4-2) in Tallahassee, Fla., at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22. It’ll be a top-25 match up with TCU currently ranked No. 7 in the country while the Nittany Lions sit at No. 22.
Penn State defeated Stony Brook 8-1 with six different players scoring goals. It was the the highest scoring output by Penn State against a Division I opponent since 2005.
The second-round contest will also give TCU a chance for redemption. The two teams met last season in the regular season with the Nittany Lions beating the Horned Frogs 1-0.
The winner will advance to the Sweet Sixteen and face the winner of Florida State-Vanderbilt.
