TCU baseball understood the assignment.

With 10 games left in the regular season, the Horned Frogs were hanging on by a thread for their at-large chances for the NCAA Tournament.

Fast forward a tad over two weeks and TCU finished the regular season 8-2 with impressive series wins over a ranked Cal State Fullerton and Kansas State in the final series of the year. Elijah Nunez delivered one of the plays of the year as he robbed a home run to seal the win and series on Sunday.

Bracketology projections are still updating, but most seem to have the Horned Frogs firmly in the field now. At the start of the Kansas State series, D1Baseball had TCU already in the tournament as a projected No. 2 seed in the College Station regional thanks in part to win over Texas State.

CollegeSportsMadness also had the Horned Frogs as a No. 2 seed, in the Nashville regional, before the Horned Frogs finished off the Wildcats. It feels like a safe bet to say the Horned Frogs have played their way off the bubble, but the job isn’t finished.

D1Baseball released its updated projections on Monday and now has the Horned Frogs hosting a regional. The projected regional would include Dallas Baptist, Texas State and McNeese.

The Big 12 baseball tournament starts on Wednesday and TCU will face Kansas State once again at 9 a.m. at Globe Life Field. The winner will likely face top-seeded Texas in the next round. One more win over the Wildcats could be the final piece TCU needs to cement its resume and place in the NCAA Tournament.
