TCU women’s basketball head coach Raegan Pebley is leaving the Horned Frogs’ program.

Pebley, who will coach the final two games of the regular season, informed the team of her decision Monday afternoon.

“TCU has my heart. This school, this city and most of all the people have been so special to my family and I,” Pebley said in a statement. “I believe in the potential of our women’s basketball program and Jeremiah Donati’s leadership.

“Today I met with Jeremiah and shared with him that I think it is time for a change. While this is hard, the new landscape of college athletics and recruiting make this the right time for this announcement so TCU can make a hire this program and these women deserve.”

Donati is the TCU athletic director. The former WNBA player was hired in 2014 by former athletic director Chris Del Conte, who is the now the athletic director at Texas.

TCU is 7-20 and 1-15 in Big 12 play with its lone win coming against Kansas State on Feb. 14.

TCU made the Women’s NIT in back-to-back years. From 2017-20 Pebley had three straight seasons with 20 wins and two appearances in the WNIT semi-finals.

The 2019-20 season was poised to potentially be Pebley’s best as TCU finished second place in the Big 12 in the regular season and were projected to make the NCAA Tournament. But the season was cut short due to COVID-19 pandemic and that ultimately was the turning point of Pebley’s tenure.

TCU was 10-15 in 2020-21 and 6-22 with just two conference wins last season. With two games remaining in her tenure, Pebley’s overall record in Fort Worth sits at 140-135 in nine seasons. The Horned Frogs are 60-102 in Big 12 play under Pebley.

Pebley’s final game as coach will be on March 4 when TCU hosts Kansas at 1 p.m.
