National Signing Day: TCU misses out on Jaden Rashada

Pittsburg quarterback Jaden Rashada (5) is pressured by Liberty’s Grant Buckey (72) during the second quarter of the 2022 CIF State Football Championship Division 1-A game at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, Calif., on Dec. 10, 2022. TCU continues its search for the quarterback of the future.

The Horned Frogs missed out on four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada on National Signing Day. Rated the No. 6 quarterback nationally, Rashada announced Wednesday morning that he was signing a National Letter of Intent with Arizona State over TCU.

He took a recent visit to TCU a week after visiting the Sun Devils. Rashada was originally signed with Florida, but was able to get out of his letter of intent after a name, image and likeness deal fell through. It’s another swing and miss at that position for TCU after coach Sonny Dykes said the team hoped to add a quarterback to the room.

The Horned Frogs were also in contention for LSU transfer Walker Howard, but he decided to head to Ole Miss.

In other NSD news, TCU is also still waiting to see if it can keep Warren Roberson in the fold. The four-star Red Oak safety is deciding between the Horned Frogs, Texas and USC for his final signature. While TCU already has a solid crop of safeties including Arlington Seguin star Jamel Johnson, Roberson is still the fourth highest rated prospect in the class.

Roberson was set to decide on Wednesday at a signing ceremony at his school, but the winter storm caused Red Oak and many other DFW school districts to close on Wednesday. A decision is still likely to come this week.
