TCU’s hot recruiting weekend continued with yet another commitment for coach Sonny Dykes.

Four-star safety Jamel Johnson committed to the Horned Frogs on Friday afternoon with an announcement on his Twitter page.

From nearby Seguin High School, Johnson is rated the No. 357 prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings and the No. 33 safety prospect in the country.

247Sports own individual rankings rated Johnson even higher as the service has him graded as the No. 21 safety in the 2023 class.

Johnson was committed to Texas for nearly a year before decommiting from the Longhorns in November. Johnson completed an official visit to TCU last weekend and the Horned Frogs did enough to land his services over the likes of Ole Miss, Arkansas and Florida State among others.

Johnson is now the fifth-highest ranked recruit in TCU’s class that is ranked No. 18 in the country. The Horned Frogs landed the top-rated junior college cornerback, Channing Canada on Thursday.
