Five-star center Dennis Evans announced on Monday his commitment to the University of Minnesota, spurning Jamie Dixon and the TCU Horned Frogs.

From Riverside, Calif., Evans is ranked No. 31 in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. At 7-foot-1, Evans is the nation’s fourth-ranked center.

He made his announcement on Instagram at 6 p.m. CT.

Evans took an official visit to TCU on Sept. 10 and Minnesota at the end of September. TCU head coach Jamie Dixon and the rest of the staff took multiple trips to California to visit Evans.

According to 247Sports, Evans would have been the highest ranked recruit to commit to TCU since Blake Adams in 2003.

Earlier in the day, TCU was voted No. 14 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 poll. It’s only the third time the program has started the season ranked and the first time in the Top 15.

TCU’s 2023 recruiting class currently includes Mansfield Legacy forward Isaiah Manning and Houston wing Jace Posey, the son of two-time NBA champion James Posey.
