TCU strengthened its case with five-star big man Dennis Evans after hosting the 7-foot-1 big man on a recent official visit.

Ranked No. 31 overall in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Evans hails from Riverside, Cal. He’s also ranked a Top 10 prospect in the state. Evans said he enjoyed his time in Fort Worth.

“It was a lot of fun, I got to see a lot of the campus. I was able to see what they had while I was out there,” Evans said. “I enjoyed the personality of everyone in the area and some of the programs they have for education.”

Learning more about what TCU could offer on the academic side really stood out to Evans.

“They have a few different programs, like this undergrad program where you could study under someone, be in their shoes and see what they do for a day. They have some pretty good programs within business and marketing,” Evans said.

Evans doesn’t have a timeline for a potential decision, but did say TCU was among the three schools standing out to him. The Horned Frogs are battling Kansas and Minnesota among other teams.

Evans will officially visit Minnesota at the end of September and the TCU staff plans to drop in on Evans in California in the near future.

His connection with Jamie Dixon is one of the reasons TCU is in the thick of it with one of 2023’s best players.

“I have a really good relationship with Jamie and his assistant (Tony Bedford) and the rest of the staff. I communicate a lot with them,” Evans said.

After landing a commitment from Jace Posey, and the son of NBA champion James Posey, last week TCU currently has the No. 26 class nationally.

If Dixon can add Evans to a class that includes Posey and Mansfield Legacy standout Isaiah Manning, it would easily be his best class at TCU and put the Horned Frogs in range of the Top 10.

What could Evans potentially bring on the court for TCU?

“I would say I’m an inside-outside shot blocker that’s pretty good at moving laterally,” Evans said.

Evans projects to be an immediate impact player defensively and has the upside to to his offensive game. The program that is able to convince him that they can be maximize that potential will be the one that emerges with a commitment.

“I’m just looking for a good that’s really going to give me a good chance to really show what I’m made of and one that’s going to continue to support me and push me to my dream of hopefully making it to the NBA,” Evans said.
