How TCU beat Oklahoma State 43-40 in double overtime

This is the first time since 2020 that two Big 12 teams are 5-0 or better and facing each other.
Recap
Kendre Miller’s two-yard run in the second overtime lifted TCU to a 43-40 win over visiting Oklahoma State, pushing the Horned Frogs to the top of the Big 12.
The 6-0 Horned Frogs trailed throughout much of the game, but rallied in the second half to force overtime. After both teams scored touchdowns and extra points in the first overtime, Oklahoma State settled for a field goal in their second overtime possession.
The Horned Frogs then won it in the second overtime on Miller’s run.

TCU possession: Kendre Miller on back-to-back runs for first down at the OSU 12. Miller loses 1. Second down at the 13. Max Duggan runs to the 1. 1st and goal. Dggan loses a yard on first down. 2nd-and-goal. Kendre Miller scores on a 2-yard run and TCU wins 43-40.
1st Overtime
Each team gets an offensive series, starting at their opponent’s 25-yard line.
TCU is on offense first.
TCU possession: Miller for no gain on first down. Then Duggan to Johnston for a 25-yard touchdown. Griffin Kell’s extra point gives TCU 37-30 lead. It’s OSU’s turn.
OSU possession: Sanders gains 1 yard on first down; pass deflected on second down; Sanders incomplete pass on third down. On fourth down, Sanders connects with Johnson with 24 yards. Dominic Richardson scores on 1-yard run. Tanner Brown’s extra point ties game 37-37.
Fourth-quarter key plays
OSU 13th possession: Starts on OSU 25. Eight seconds left. OSU kneels. Headed to OT.
TSU 13th possession: Starts at TCU 24. Duggan runs for 1 yard, Max passes to Demercado for 5 yards. Timeout 3rd-and-4 at TCU 30. Deep pass falls. Punt to OSU 25 with 8 seconds left.
OSU 12th possession: Starts at OSU 26. Three plays later, Cowboys gain four yards. OSU punts to TCU 23. 59 seconds left.
TCU 12th possession: Starts at TCU 6. Max Duggan leads the Horned Frogs down the field on 94-yard scoring drive Horned Frogs score on a trick pay. Duggan takes handoff from DeMercado and throws a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jared Wiley. Griffin Kell’s extra point ties the game 30-30.
OSU 11th possession: Goes nowhere and the Cowboys punt again. TCU takes over on the OSU 6.
TCU 11th possession: Starts at TCU 8. Horned Frogs only gain a yard before they punt away to the OSU 43. 6:21 left.
OSU 10th possession: Cowboys start driving, but drive halts when Spencer Sanders’ pass is intercepted by TCU’s Thomas Armstrong at the TCU 8 with 7:19 remaining.
TSU 10th possession: . Kendre Miller scores from 7 yards out. Griffin Kell’s extra point pulls Horned Frogs within 30-23 with 9:22 left.
OSU ninth possession: Starts at OSU 8. Horned Frogs hold Cowboys on downs. Punt ball away, Darrius Davis returns punt to set up 47-yard scoring drive.
TSU ninth possession continues. 2nd-and-2 at TCU 47. Drive stalls. TCU punts to OSU 8.
Third-quarter key plays
TSU ninth possession: Starts at TSU 21. Three plays later, the ZHorned Frogs have 2nd-and-2 at the TCU 47 at the end of the fourth quarter.
OSU eighth possession: Starts on OSU 25. Cowboys drive 5:%1 to the TCU 15 where Tanner Brown boots a 32-yard field goal. Cowboys lead 30-16 with 1:25 left in the quarter.
TSU eighth possession: Starts on TCU 30. Horned Frogs trade field goals as Griffin Kell kicks another field goal, this one from 34 yards. OSU leads 27-16 with 5:51 left in third quarter.
OSU seventh possession: Cowboys start at OSU 25. Series ends in a 34-yard Tanner Brown field goal (he’s perfect 10 of 10 this season). OSU leads 27-13 with 11:38 left in the third quarter.

TCU has a 235-211 edge in total yards.
Duggan has completed 11 of 20 passes for 135 yards and rushed five times for 27 yards.
Spencer Sanders has completed 8 of 17 passes for 129 yards and has rushed four times for 51 yards. He has accounted for all three OSU touchdowns.

OSU sixth possession: Starts at OSU 25. 3-and-out and punt for fair catch at TSU 39. 2:10 left.
TCU sixth possession: Despite Davis’ big return, Horned Frogs don’t move ball. Settle on Griffin Kell 47-yard field goal. Cowboys lead 24-10.
OSU fifth possession: Starts on OSU 11. Cowboys go 3-and-out and punt ball back to TCU. Horned Frogs take over at the TCU 30 after big punt return by Darrius Davis. 5:07 left in the half.
TCU fifth possession: Starts on TCU 13. Horned Frogs drive stalls at OSU 11 when TCU coach Sonny Dykes chooses not to kick field goal. Ball turns over to OSU on downs.
OSU fourth possession: Starts at TCU 47. Spencer Sanders connects with John Paul Richardson on a 22-yard touchdown pass. Tanner Brown’s extra point gives Cowboys a 24-7 lead with 10:04 remaining in the half.

TCU fourth possession: Starts at TCU 19. Three incomplete passes and TCU punts ball away. Horned Frogs punt ball to OSU 38, however a kick catch interference penalty on TCU puts ball at TCU 47 with 12:46 left in the half.
OSU third possession continues at TCU 24: Tanner Brown boots 35-yard field goal to boost Cowboys lead to 17-7 with 13:32 left in the first half. Cowboys take advantage of the muffed punt.
First-quarter key plays
OSU third possession: Begins at OSU 23. Lose three yards in three plays. However, TCU’s Darrius Davis fumbles the punt return. It’s recovered by OSU’s Cameron Epps at the TCU 24 on final play of the first quarter.
Duggan’s No. 23. That’s the quarterback’s 23rd career touchdown.
TCU third possession: Starts at TCU 25. Horned Frogs get on the scoreboard. Big play in the drive is 48-yard pass from Max Duggan to Quentin Johnston to the OSU 1. Three plays later, Duggan scores on a 1-yard run. Griffin Kell’s extra point pulls TCU within 14-7 with 1:40 left in the quarter. (7 plays, 75 yards).
Second OSU possession: Starts at OSU 22 with 8:15 left in quarter. Cowboys march down the field again, scoring again in a Sanders touchdown run (this one 8 yards). Brown’s extra point gives OSU 14-0 lead with 4:33 left in quarter.
Second TCU possession: Starts at TCU 17. Horned Frogs advance to the TCU 47 where drive stalls. Punt to TCU 17.
First OSU possession: Starts at OSU 27. Flea-flicker for 38 yards (Spencer Sanders to Braden Cassity) is first big play; Spencer Sanders then rushes 22 yards for the touchdown. Tanner Brown’s extra point gives OSU 7-0 lead with 10:25 left in the first quarter. 6 plays, 73 yards, 2:32.
First TCU possession: Starts at TCU 25. Horned Frogs pick up 9 yards, punt ball away to OSU. Fair catch at OSU 27.
