TCU baseball shuffles its rotation as Austin Krob returns to Friday slot
TCU baseball’s opening day starter is returning to the rotation for the first time in almost two months.
Junior left-handed Austin Krob is scheduled to start a three-game series opener against Oklahoma at 6 p.m. Friday at Lupton Stadium. The Frogs will also have a new Sunday starter with freshman Caedmon Parker.
Krob last started a game against Army on March 13. He was then shut down with a shoulder injury before returning in a relief role at Oklahoma State on April 24. He’s made one other relief appearance at Florida State on Saturday.
For the season, Krob is 2-0 with a 5.14 ERA in six appearances, including four starts.
Krob replaces Riley Cornelio as the Friday night starter. Cornelio is not scheduled to start on the Oklahoma series. Cornelio is reportedly dealing with pronate tightness that the team is hoping is not serious.
It’s unclear what sort of pitch count Krob will be on Friday night.
TCU is scheduled to go with Marcelo Perez on Saturday and Parker on Sunday. Parker has started six midweek games. Brett Walker has been the Frogs’ Sunday starter.
Saturday’s game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and Sunday’s at 1 p.m.
The 24th-ranked Frogs (27-16, 12-6 Big 12) are on a three-game losing streak but second in the Big 12 standings. OU is also 27-16 overall with a 9-6 record in league games.
