TCU football loses its first post-spring player to the NCAA transfer portal
Exactly one week after its spring season ended, TCU football has its first post-spring transfer.
Freshman linebacker Jayhvion Gipson entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal on Friday night, a source told the Star-Telegram. Gipson didn’t register a stat in two games for the Frogs last season.
He joined the Frogs as a three-star prospect out of Houston Langham Creek in the 2021 class.
TCU has managed to keep the majority of its roster together since going through spring practices. Gipson is the only player who has entered the portal so far. Players must enter their name by Sunday in order to transfer this academic year. The portal will shutdown for three months over the summer before reopening on Aug. 1.
2023 commit
On the bright side for the Frogs on Friday, the program landed a commitment from Gilmer athlete Rohan Fluellen. Fluellen is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports.
“Committed. @TCUFootball thank you to all the coaches who took the time in recruiting me shout out to @seancooper_C4 for helping me with the recruiting process,” Fluellen wrote on his Twitter account. “After a talk with @CoachSonnyDykes I will be taking my talents to the university of TCU.”
Fluellen is listed at 6 feet tall, 170 pounds. He also has offers from schools such as Houston and Louisiana Tech.
The Frogs now have three commitments for their 2023 class. Along with Fluellen, TCU has also received commitments from receiver Jordyn Bailey and offensive lineman Trevor Goosby.
