On a day TCU football added nine players as part of its 2022 recruiting class on early signing day, the program saw three more players enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Safety Da’Veawn Armstead, a three-star prospect in the 2021 class, is leaving the program, a source confirmed. He had five tackles in 10 games this season.

Freshman defensive end Chris Murray, another three-star prospect in the 2021 class, is also expected to enter the portal. Murray did not play as a true freshman.

Ahmonte Watkins is also in the portal. He played running back in high school but was recruited to TCU as a defensive back. However, the Frogs used Watkins at running back late in the season when depth became an issue with injuries.

The three players join several others in the portal, including running back Zach Evans, defensive tackle Earl Barquet (USC) and quarterback Matthew Downing. There is a chance that Evans returns for his junior season with the Frogs.
