TCU football will have a new starting quarterback today.

Redshirt freshman Chandler Morris will get the nod against No. 14 Baylor with Max Duggan battling a foot injury. This will be Morris’ first career start.

Morris entered last week’s game at Kansas State in the second half as Duggan’s mobility was limited because of his injury. Morris led the only touchdown drive for the Frogs, finishing 9 of 14 passing for 111 yards. He also rushed for 38 yards on eight carries in TCU’s 31-12 loss.

Morris, an Oklahoma transfer, had a standout high school career at Highland Park, going 27-2 his final two seasons. The four-star prospect accounted for 7,694 passing yards, 88 passing touchdowns, 1,286 rushing yards and 37 rushing TDs over those two seasons.

Duggan, meanwhile, has been battling a foot injury since the Texas Tech game on Oct. 9. He has started 27 of the last 28 games for TCU, but has been limited with the injury. Duggan is available if needed, a source said, but it’s unlikely he’ll play.

On the running back front, sophomore Zach Evans is out. Evans hasn’t played in three of the last four games due to a turf toe injury he sustained at Texas Tech on Oct. 9. Evans is the team’s leading rusher with 648 yards.

Along with Evans, sophomore RB Daimarqua Foster is also sidelined today and may not play the rest of the season, according to a source.

Sophomore Kendre Miller is expected to start at running back for the Frogs.

On a positive note, defensive line coach Dan Sharp told a Frog Club luncheon this week that everyone is healthy in his group for the first time this season. TCU has struggled getting pressure on the quarterback with only 11 sacks this season.

Of course, the main story going into the game is the start of the post-Gary Patterson era. TCU and its longtime coach parted ways on Sunday. Jerry Kill has taken over on an interim basis.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. today at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
