JUST IN: TCU football’s active leader in starts will not play today at Baylor
TCU football will be without its active leader in starts for today’s game at Baylor.
Senior defensive tackle Corey Bethley is sidelined with an injury and did not take part in pregame warmups. Bethley has started the last 29 games for the Horned Frogs. He has six tackles, including two for a loss and one sack, for the Frogs so far this season.
Bethley also recovered the fumble in the final minutes to secure TCU’s victory over Texas earlier this season.
With Bethley out, TCU is expected to start junior George Ellis at defensive tackle alongside Terrell Cooper. The starting defensive ends remain the same with Ochaun Mathis and Khari Coleman. Aledo product and sophomore Colt Ellison is working with the second-team at defensive end.
Other notables from pregame warmups:
▪ Defender Marcel Brooks remains sidelined with an undisclosed injury. Brooks last played in the Texas game.
▪ Senior wide receiver JD Spielman remains sidelined with an injury. Spielman, the Frogs’ top punt returner, did not play against Oklahoma last week.
▪ TCU’s starting offensive line is T.J. Storment at left tackle, John Lanz at left guard, Steve Avila at center, Austin Myers at right guard and Andrew Coker at right tackle. Wes Harris sustained a season-ending injury in the loss to OU last week.
▪ Sophomore Kee’yon Stewart is replacing Noah Daniels as starting cornerback opposite Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson. Daniels sustained a season-ending injury against OU. Stewart started six games for the Horned Frogs last season.
▪ Darwin Barlow will make his third consecutive start at running back.
Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at McLane Stadium.
