One fall event that hasn’t been canceled? TCU’s Horned Frog Classic goes into Year 42
TCU has been forced to cancel a number of fall events amid the coronavirus pandemic, including homecoming and family weekend.
But the school has managed to keep one of its decades-long traditions going with the Frog Club’s Horned Frog Classic scheduled for Oct. 19 at Colonial Country Club.
The event started in 1979 with touring professionals such as Charles Coody and Don Massengale joining former TCU golf coach Fred Warren. It’s been going on for four-plus decades since.
The event raises money for the Frog Club, which provides scholarship support for TCU student athletes. A flyer for the event said the golf tournament is a strong asset in helping underwrite scholarships for the men’s and women’s golf programs.
The day will feature two flights with an 8 a.m. morning round and a 1 p.m. afternoon round. Individual player packages start at $650 for the morning round and $750 for the afternoon round. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
