Here’s how TCU has adjusted its football practices amid the coronavirus pandemic
TCU coach Gary Patterson praised how his team has adjusted to the new measures the program has adopted during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Horned Frogs are taking sanitation breaks every 10 minutes during team periods, and never running more than three consecutive plays.
“It takes us a little longer to get through practice,” Patterson said. “You’re never going to go more than a couple of minutes doing anything.”
Patterson has also been pleased with how his players are going about staying safe and socially distant off the field. TCU hasn’t publicly released specific COVID testing numbers for its football team, but Patterson said they’ve only had a couple players test positive for the virus recently.
“I think we had one and that was from outside [the football bubble],” he said on Thursday night. “We’ve been pleasantly pleased with how the guys have handled themselves.”
The stomach flu has been more troubling, Patterson said, with 10-12 players who have missed some practice time because of that bug.
TCU is scheduled to open its season against SMU on Sept. 12 at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
