TCU’s Gary Patterson releases new track ‘Take a Step Back’
TCU football coach Gary Patterson is officially a recording artist.
Patterson released his single, “Take a Step Back,” on Friday night and the early reviews have been positive.
The country song is 2 minutes, 18 seconds. Patterson collaborated with country song and TCU alum JT Hodges in making the song. Patterson said he wrote the song during quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“This song was written back in April during the peak of COVID,” Patterson said on Twitter. “I wanted to remind people to enjoy the time with their families, get to know their neighbors and be kind to each other through it all.”
Patterson will now shift his attention to the 2020 football season. TCU is expected to start its offseason practices Monday, the first day allowed by the Big 12.
TCU opens the football season at Cal on Sept. 5.
