TCU baseball pushes back start time vs. Cal on Saturday
With the men’s basketball team hosting No. 2 Baylor at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the baseball team has decided to push back its start time.
TCU and Cal will play at 3 p.m., instead of 2 p.m., on Saturday at Lupton Stadium. This gives the school a chance to accommodate traffic better, as well as allowing fans an opportunity to attend both games.
Saturday’s baseball game is the middle game of a three-game series.
The Horned Frogs are off to a 7-1 start in baseball after knocking off Stephen F. Austin, 12-3, on Wednesday night.
TCU opened the season by sweeping Kentucky in three games, then defeated Abilene Christian in a mid-week contest and took two of three at Minnesota last weekend.
The Horned Frogs have scored at least 10 runs in five games this season.
Cal is picked to finish tied for seventh in the Pac-12 preseason poll. The Bears are off to a 3-5 start, although they’ve won their last two games.
TCU is expected to start redshirt sophomore Johnny Ray for the series opener on Friday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Lupton Stadium.
Right-hander Charles King will start Saturday’s matchup at 3 p.m., and left-hander Russell Smith is scheduled to start the finale at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
