TCU baseball opens with sweep of Kentucky; Frogs outscore Wildcats 22-7 in series
The TCU baseball team is off to a promising start in 2020.
The Horned Frogs completed a three-game sweep of Kentucky on Sunday afternoon, rolling to a 10-5 victory at Lupton Stadium.
TCU (3-0) outscored Kentucky 22-7 in the three-game series to open the season. Every weekend starter pitched well.
Johnny Ray allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings on Friday; Charles King allowed one unearned run over six innings on Saturday; and Russell Smith allowed two runs (one earned) over 4 2/3 innings on Sunday.
Offensively, TCU saw plenty of players deliver. Conner Shepherd had three RBIs on Friday; Austin Henry and Hunter Wolfe both drove in two runs on Saturday; and Tommy Sacco had four RBIs, and Gene Wood and Gray Rodgers each delivered home runs on Sunday.
TCU returns to action Tuesday at home against Abilene Christian. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m..
The Horned Frogs will then go on their first road trip at Minnesota next weekend with a three-game series set for Feb. 22-24 (Saturday-Monday). Games will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium, the indoor home of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings.
