TCU freshman guard Francisco Farabello will not play in tonight’s game at Iowa State, coach Jamie Dixon told the Star-Telegram.

Farabello sustained a concussion against West Virginia on Saturday, getting kneed in the head going after a loose ball. He did not make the trip with the Horned Frogs and remains in concussion protocol.

But Farabello is feeling better and making progress. It’s unknown whether he’ll be cleared for TCU’s game against No. 2 Baylor on Saturday in Fort Worth.

Seeing a player miss time with an injury has been rare for the Frogs this season. Sophomore guard RJ Nembhard missed the Wyoming game on Nov. 26, and freshman forward Diante Smith missed the Louisiana game on Nov. 12.

Farabello has played in all 27 games this season, averaging 4.1 points in 21.2 minutes per game. He has started seven games.

With Farabello sidelined, senior Edric Dennis will likely see increased minutes. Dennis saw his playing time dip of late, but played more than 19 minutes against West Virginia with Farabello out.

Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. tonight at Hilton Coliseum, and will be televised on ESPNU. The Horned Frogs (15-12, 6-8 Big 12) have won five straight against the Cyclones.
