TCU receiver Jalen Reagor shines one final time in a Horned Frogs uniform
TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor had the best hands in the 2020 State Farm All-Star Challenge on Monday at AT&T Stadium.
Reagor had an impressive showing during his individual drill, hauling in every pass thrown his way by Kansas quarterback Carter Stanley. He had no drops on the day, including the individual and team portion.
Reagor won the “hands competition” by going through a number of routes in 15.9 seconds, one-tenth of a second better than Washington running back Salvon Ahmed and a half-second better than Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy (16.4).
By winning the individual event, Reagor earned additional money.
“It was fun, man, coming out here and having a little fun,” said Reagor, who donned a TCU uniform for the final time.
“A nice little break from training.”
Reagor brushed off any notion of added excitement by winning a competition that included other highly-touted 2020 wide receiver prospects such as Jeudy and Penn State’s KJ Hamler.
“It’s never nothing like that,” Reagor said. “I congratulate everybody. It’s never personal. I go out and take care of my business and let the rest handle itself.”
Reagor was joined by fellow TCU teammate Ross Blacklock on the Big 12’s team. Blacklock finished sixth in the “strength challenge,” seeing his time plummet after he slipped on the turf.
But Blacklock took the tumble in good spirits and enjoyed representing TCU once more.
“Gonna miss being in that uniform,” Blacklock said. “It always feels good to wear the purple and black one last time.”
Along with Reagor and Blacklock, the other members of the Big 12 team were Stanley and Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray.
The Big 12 finished fifth in the team competition and were fourth in the final standings. The competition will air at 8 p.m. Friday on ESPN2.
At the end of the day, the event was simply an opportunity for players to enjoy a skills competition among the Power Five conferences, as well as a ‘wild card’ team, before pursuing NFL careers.
Blacklock headed back to southern California to resume his pre-draft training, while Reagor is working out at EXOS in Frisco. Both are feeling good about the progress being made early on.
“I’m really enjoying it cause it’s like Football 101,” Reagor said. “Just straight football training, film work, position work, all day.”
Reagor closed his college career with 2,248 yards receiving, 22 TDs and 148 receptions, highlighted by a 1,000-yard season as a sophomore in 2018. Reagor also rushed for 324 yards and two TDs in his career.
His 22 career receiving TD receptions are tied for second-most in TCU history, trailing only Josh Doctson (29).
Reagor led the team with 611 yards receiving and five touchdowns on 43 receptions in 2019. He was a standout returner, being named to three All-America teams after ranking second nationally with a 20.8 punt return average.
Blacklock, meanwhile, had 67 tackles in his career, including 15.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in two full seasons. He had a standout redshirt freshman season in 2017, earning Big 12 co-defensive freshman of the year honors, but was sidelined with an Achilles injury in 2018.
Blacklock started all 12 games for the Horned Frogs in 2019, finishing with 40 tackles, including nine for loss and a team-leading 3 1/2 sacks. He also had three QB hurries.
Blacklock was a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2019.
The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 23-25 in Las Vegas.
