TCU football sees another player enter transfer portal

TCU defensive end Adam Plant Jr. is in the NCAA transfer portal, a source confirmed.

Plant spent just one season with the Horned Frogs in 2019. He played in all 12 games as a rotational defensive end, registering three tackles.

Plant is the fifth notable departure from the 2019 opening-day roster, along with quarterbacks Justin Rogers and Mike Collins; linebacker Jacoby Simpson; and defensive tackle Karter Johnson.

Plant joined TCU as a three-star prospect out of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman. He was a member of the 2018 recruiting class, originally signing with Arizona before sitting out the 2018 season and eventually landing at TCU.

With Plant leaving, TCU will have Ochaun Mathis, Parker Workman, Colt Ellison and Brandon Bowen as scholarship defensive ends returning next season. TCU also signed a pass rusher to its 2020 class during early signing period this week, New Orleans native Khari Coleman.

TCU will be looking for more production out of that position group next season. The Horned Frogs’ pass rushers combined for just five sacks on the season, led by Mathis’ 2.5.

Horned Frog Blitz publisher Jeremy Clark first reported the news of Plant entering the transfer portal.
