Insider Access: Here are the recruits TCU is targeting for National Signing Day
Gary Patterson has his plate full at the moment.
There’s the whole Kolby Listenbee situation, which came about last week.
Oh, and then there’s National Signing Day on Wednesday, which is the culmination of years of tireless work to try to convince class of 2018 recruits from across the country that TCU is where they should sign their National Letter of Intent.
He and his staff have done a terrific job of that last part thus far, as TCU is on track to signing the highest-rated class in program history. The Frogs even added to that class Monday night.
Who else could they add? Funny you ask. Here are the names to keep an eye on
COMMITS
Saint Francisville, LA/West Feliciana
Three-star rated as No. 977 player overall, No. 86 CB overall, and No. 41 player in Louisiana
Euless Trinity
Three-star rated as the No. 81 OLB overall and No. 168 player in Texas
Houston MacArthur
Three-star rated as the No. 626 player overall, No. 28 ILB overall, and No. 87 player in Texas
NON-TCU COMMITS
Boling, Texas
Committed to Alabama
Four-star rated as No. 357 player overall, No. 20 athlete overall, and No. 48 player in Texas
The Skinny: “They just had Vernon Jackson in [two weekends ago]. He’s committed to Alabama. They feel pretty good about him,” said Jeremy Clark, publisher of Horned Frog Blitz. Jackson took an official visit to Texas A&M on Feb. 2.
Houston Westfield
Committed to Texas
Four-star rated as No. 123 player overall, No. 11 DT overall, and No. 13 player in Texas
The Skinny: “That’s a guy they really wanted to get on campus several times but it just never came to fruition,” Clark said. Looks like he’s a lock with the Longhorns.
Shreveport, LA/Evangel Christian
Committed to LSU
Three-star rated as the No. 648 player overall, No. 45 safety overall, and No. 25 player in Louisiana
The Skinny: “Ardarius Washington, everyone I talk to says he’s going to end up as a Frog. So we’ll see how that goes.”
Graduate transfer from Rice
The Skinny: Played his high school ball at Austin Westlake. The Longhorns are considered the team to beat with Michigan right there as well.
Rockledge, Fla.
Four-star rated as the No. 261 player overall, No. 8 all-purpose back overall, and No. 49 player in Florida
The Skinny: “Maybe the biggest target of all is Jashaun Corbin,” Clark said. “He’s a four-star RB out of Florida that Curtis Luper and Coach Patterson have both visited with. They really, really want to get this guy. They have a running back committed right now but they want another RB that fits that Darius Anderson mold, and they’ve pegged him as one of those guys.”
Metairie, LA/Archbishop Rummel
Three-star rated as the No. 464 player overall, No. 32 safety overall, and No. 17 player in Louisiana
The Skinny: He’s currently projected to end up at Arkansas (61 percent).
