TCU linebacker Summers earns second Big 12 defensive player honor
TCU linebacker Ty Summers, who recorded 14 tackles and a sack last week against Texas, was named the defensive player of the week by the Big 12. It’s the second time he has won the award this year.
Summers recorded a game-high 14 tackles in the Horned Frogs’ 31-9 victory, including two for loss and had a pass breakup in addition to the sack. One of his tackles came in a goal-line stand against the Longhorns and star back D’Onta Foreman.
Summers reached double figures in tackles for the eighth time and is second in the Big 12 in tackles with 105.
He also won the weekly honor after a Week 3 game against Iowa State. It’s the eighth time a TCU player has been recognized by the conference. Quarterback Kenny Hill, defensive end Josh Carraway, linebacker Travin Howard, receiver Desmon White and returner KaVontae Turpin (twice) have also been honored.
