After looking lifeless for most of the first half, TCU scored the first two touchdowns of the game in the third quarter to separate itself from rival SMU and take the 33-3 win at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

Graduate transfer receiver John Diarse took the first offensive snap of the second half 75 yards for the first touchdown of the game after the Horned Frogs took a 6-3 lead at halftime. Diarse finished the game with six catches for 139 yards. This came a week after Diarse set a previous career-high of seven catches for 97 yards in TCU’s 41-20 win over Iowa State.

Penalties and one more Kenny Hill interception, deep in SMU territory in the first quarter, stymied the Frogs in the first half. But Hill got into a rhythm in the third quarter, especially with Diarse. His second touchdown of the game went to Jalean Austin on a 2-yard fade that put TCU up 20-3 at the time.

Running back Trevorris Johnson scampered in from 14 yards to finish the scoring

Kicker Ryan Graf was 2 for 2 on field goals in the first half, including a career-high 46-yarder that tied the game 3-3 early on, but he was spelled in the second half by Brandon Hatfield, who was also 2 for 2.
