TCU-SMU fans trickle in for ‘heated’ rivalry
Hi, TCU fans, and primarily SMU fans.
If you weren’t aware, there is a football game scheduled this evening on Mockingbird Lane.
Judging from the sparse attendance at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in the game’s early going, we weren’t sure you all were aware. Maybe someone should have posted a couple flyers about it, looking back. Maybe some promotion on that newfangled internet. We don’t know about those things, though.
Ford Stadium on the SMU campus has seating capacity for 32,000 rabid, screaming Pony fans. At kickoff time for the Iron Skillet game, though, against allegedly bitter rivals, we may have had 10,000, and that would be a generous estimate.
Maybe the Friday night game threw some folks off. Traffic was definitely snarling on the way in. Or maybe fans went to their high school games instead.
TCU holds a 47-40-7 advantage in the TCU-SMU rivalry that dates back to 1915.
